The Council of Europe adopts two resolutions to promote public health

08.07.2016

At its 1258th meeting, on 1 July 2016, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe adopted two new Resolutions. Resolution CM/Res(2016)2 on good reconstitution practices in health care establishments for medicinal products for parenteral use recommends that the parties to the Ph. Eur. Convention, one of which is the Republic of Croatia, implement measures to guarantee that best practices are in place in health care establishments for the reconstitution of a medicinal product into a ready-to-use or ready-to-administer dosage form. At the same meeting, Resolution CM/Res(2016)1 on quality and safety assurance requirements for medicinal products prepared in pharmacies for the special needs of patients was also adopted.

The ultimate goals of the two new Resolutions are to promote public health through the harmonisation of requirements for medicinal preparations, support health professionals with appropriate guidance to prevent risk of health damage caused by drug preparation errors and, ultimately, ensure that patient needs are fully met.
