Workshop on OTC medicines: The Role of Good Classification Practices in Promoting Medication Safety and Accessibility in Europe
The workshop "The Role of Good Classification Practices in Promoting Medication Safety and Accessibility in Europe” will be organised by the Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices (HALMED) and European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines and Healthcare (EDQM) from 20 to 21 November 2014 in Zagreb.
The workshop is aimed at understanding and learning about patients’ awareness, education and health literacy with respect to safe and appropriate use of over-the-counter (OTC) medications;
getting to know new modes of medicinal products’ distribution, with special attention to distant trade in medicinal products; examining the possible regulation of supply modes of OTC medicines into "Pharmacy-only medicines” and "General sales medicines”; providing a platform for discussion of the regulatory, scientific and societal dimensions of the above topics.
This workshop is aimed at officials from national and European competent drug authorities, healthcare professionals, patients’ organisations and representatives from the pharmaceutical industry involved in the classification of medicines as regards their supply.
The registration deadline for participation at the workshop is 7 November 2014. More information on the workshop, programme and registration is available here, and the schedule of other EDQM events in 2014 is available here.
